Final days in Chicago (11/1-5/22)

11/1/22, Tuesday

The kids had a great time today, sorting and resorting their candy. They even came up a with a little economy where they decided how much each candy was worth relative to the others. Eventually they started bringing in other possessions as well, deciding how much candy they believed their toys were worth. It was quite the thing. They were all as happy as little clams.

Also, today is the 13 year anniversary of Jonathan and I getting engaged, and so we celebrated by putting the kids to bed, getting Chicago style pizza and watching something

11/2/22- Jonathan & Clara Go Downtown

Jonathan went to work in the Chicago office one day and he took Clara with him. Their adventures will be detailed in another post.

While Clara and Jonathan were downtown, the other kids and I had a quiet morning at home, just working on chores and all that good stuff. And hanging out in the cabinets…

After lunch, we decided to get out of the house for a bit. It was a beautiful day, and so we went to a small field near our house. The nice thing about this particular field is that it is several feet lower than the street and so balls, frisbees, and children are not as likely to escape. After we had played at the field for a while, we packed up and went to a playground.

By far the happiest and saddest part of the week was our final hangout with the Lea’s.

11/4/22- Final hang out with the Lea’s

High on our priority list for the week was hanging out with the Lea’s again. Before we had to leave. 😭😭

We decided that we would meet at Noodles and Company for dinner.

After dinner, we went to the Creamery, which is a favorite hang out spot for the Leas. The Crea Crea. And we got to eat in an awesome plastic bubble.

After our delicious ice cream, we went back over to the Lea’s place.

The kids played outside for a bit cause the weather was lovely. Our kids have seriously missed their bikes and things during the nomad year, so they were delighted to have the chance to use some of the Lea’s outside toys. This also may have resulted in a few things being added to their Christmas wish lists.

We then went inside, and the kids disappeared down to the basement and had a great time. And the adults spent the evening gabbing.

When we finally departed, there were many bitter tears on the way back to our Airbnb after we said goodbye. 😭😭😭😭

Prepping for our Departure

The next day, we cleaned, we packed, and we did ridiculous amounts of laundry.

It was a good week. A solid way to end our time in Chicago. ❤️
