Greenhills- Road trippin

One day when we were in the elevator of our apartment building, a little girl and her family got on the elevator with suitcases. The little girl was pulling her own suitcase.  And Clara immediately became obsessed with the idea of having her own suitcase.  She mentioned it all the time.  She wanted it to be pink. And she wanted it to have princesses.  Eventually, we decided that it might be a good idea anyway, since we ended up with more stuff than we came with…ahem. I don’t know why…..  Juju quickly caught on as well.  He also wanted his own suitcase. Blue.

We decided to make these dreams a reality on our way home from our road trip.  And, we had been meaning to go to Greenhills anyway.  It’s a bargain shopping area like Divisoria.  And, as it turns out, it is basically several malls grouped together into a complex.  Of course. Malls. Filipinos and malls are majorly simpatico…The individual malls were given very American names like Connecticut and Annapolis.

We walked in and found ourselves in the technology and gadgets section. As soon as they saw us, all the cell phone accessory and repair guys began salivating. We practically had to beat them off with sticks.  Then.  We found ourselves in the home decor section. It was now my turn to start salivating.  In particular, we found an amazing booth where they were selling all kinds of carved wood dishes and things.  Heaven.

Finally, we made our way down to the purses, bags, and luggage section.  We actually didn’t have that great of selection as far as suitcases went.  We wanted a small, carry-on sized, pink suitcase.  And it turns out that was difficult to find. We found plenty of suitcases that were the right size, but not the right color.  Finally we found Goldilocks. The perfect suitcase.  And while it didn’t have princesses on it, it did have a character: Hello kitty.  So, pink and cartoon character.  Check. Clara decided that this would be ok.  So we bought it.  Juju got a little blue suitcase from the same vendor.

We then tracked down some lunch with our caravan.  And then we headed home. And Clara proceeded to take some very fine pictures of her new suitcase.  And that, friends, was the end of our roadtrip.

And that, friends was the end of our road trip.
