PUNKIN’ CARVING
Originally, the plan had been for us to get home in a timely manner from Kentucky on Sunday and then to carve pumpkins after we arrived.
But obviously, things took a little longer in Indianapolis than we had planned on, and so instead, we did our punkin carving this morning. Jonathan’s meetings generally don’t start until closer to 10:30 or 11 and so we were able to get them all carved and ready to go this morning.
After punkin carving, I went and ran a few errands, and the kids got all their chores done. The rest of the day was pretty low key.
After what seemed an eternity (to the kids) it was finally time to get into costumes.
The great thing about Mokena is that there is a set trick or treating time. From 4 to 7. For the whole town. It is just the best thing ever.
The Lea’s had invited us to go trick or treating with them in their neighborhood and so at the appointed time, we set out a bowl of candy and made our way over.
Jonas, Logan and Tyler set out together.
Clara, Scarlet, and a couple of Scarlet’s friends went trick or treating together.
So, Jonathan and I went with Jamie and Robert, Zackary and the twins. The twins were delighted to trick or treat with Zackary (they love him).
(Also, Jamie lent me a sweet Jacket so that I actually looked like I had tried to be festive.)
The twins loved trick or treating. It was seriously the cutest thing. Especially once they really got the whole system down: “Trick or Treat” “Thank you!!” “Happy Halloween!”
After Trick or Treating, we went back to the Lea’s house where we had an amazing charcuterie board. The kids went through their candy hauls and sorted and traded to their hearts’ content. Then we turned on some Pixar/Disney shorts.
And then we just sat around and yakked and generally had an amazing time.
It was an amazing Halloween!
