Lake Winnipesaukee (07.30.22)

Happy Saturday!

Before we went on our adventure, Jonathan and the 3 kids went on a run together.

After they got home, we got ready to go, bundled everyone in the car, and we were off to Lake Winnipesaukee.

Now. Before we go any further, let us please acknowledge that Lake Winnipesaukee is the setting of one of the greatest/most ridiculous movies of all time:

It is also an incredibly beautiful place. (Note: the movie was not actually filmed at the real Lake Winnipesaukee. It was filmed somewhere in Virginia.)

“My Ex-wife loves him.”

On the way to the lake, we dropped by a grocery store to pick up some provisions. After I went into the store, Clara noticed that we were right next to a Petco, and so she begged her dad to let her go look at the birds while I was grabbing groceries. And he said “sure.” Jonathan= a big ol’ softie.

After we extricated Clara from Petco, we made our way over to Weirs Beach. It was pretty busy, but we managed to snag a parking spot pretty close to the beach. We unloaded and walked along the boardwalk toward the beach. It’s mighty purty here!!

We got to the beach, found ourselves a spot and everyone went straight into the water. It was surprisingly warm. And it was a nice warm day.

We also spent plenty of time hanging out on the beach.

OK. SO. GET THIS!!! We were hanging out, and I saw this family come up with a few kids and I noticed that both parents had dark hair and that they had a redhead.

What?

So, obvi, I went over and talked to them and was like:

Me: “Are these all your kids?”

Them: “Yeah. These three and we’ve got two others already in the water”

Me: ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿคฉ “WHAaaaaa-AAAAT!?!?!? Oh my gosh ME TOO!!”

So, I told them that we ALSO have 5 kids and that a single one of them is a redhead!!! CRAZY! We bonded. It was great. They were a nice family. I was so excited. What are the odds!?

We spent several hours hanging out at the beach: swimming, eating, sunbathing, repeat. It was a lovely and low-key afternoon. Also, Clara tried, without success, to catch and rescue a seagull that seemed to have a fishing lure stuck in its beak. Unfortunately, she was unsuccessful. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Eventually it was time for us to go. We walked back along the boardwalk. And we visited some of the shops as we walked.

I was on the hunt for something specific. We wandered in and out of several shops, but in the end, I was not able to find one of these bad boys:

It’s probably just as well. Less to pack right?

All in all, it was a marvelous day.

I will end this blog post with one final reference to “What About Bob?”:

Is this corn hand-shucked?

(Really, if you haven’t seen this movie, you should. It’s amazing. And slightly insane ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚)
