I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this here. But for the majority of the time that we have been in Boston, Isaac has pronounced Boston as “Bostard” (I’m giggling as I type this….Cause I’m a mature adult.)
So, to be honest, we didn’t do a lot during the last few days that we were in Boston. We really front-loaded our adventures at the beginning of our stay.
And also, I was running out of steam. Nomading is amazing. But it is also very demanding, especially now that the twins are not taking naps anymore. So, I decided that we would take some time off from adventuring.
We did a lot of mundane/maintenance type stuff this week. Inexplicably, every one of the kids has outgrown (or destroyed) their shoes. So, shoe shopping had to happen.
Also, the weather is starting to get chilly; we only have summer clothing. So, at least a few fall/winter items had to be purchased.
Also, Packing. The worst part of nomading π«π«π«π«π«π«π«π«π«π«π«.
Other than that, we just kinda did our thing.
Jonathan, Logan, and Isaac got haircuts. (Jonas didn’t want to cut his hair).
They had originally planned on just going to a Supercuts or something, but it was booked solid. So they just found a barber shop nearby and got their hair cut there.
Logan got a sick fade.
Isaac was absolutely perfect while he got his hair cut. Honestly, this surprised and delighted me, because the last time I cut his hair, he literally screamed the whole time. Rude.
Jonathan got a haircut that was definitely a little outside his comfort zone. He called it the ‘Puerto Rican boxer’ haircut.
Also, he took 4 of the 5 children to the Patagonia store and got himself a new backpack. He has been saying that he wants a new backpack for months. So I was very proud of him for actually buying one.
The kids were so helpful at the store and they modeled all the merchandise.
Clara has been experimenting with different techniques in her art lately. She has been doing a lot of shading and experimenting with color gradients as well. It’s amazing to see how much she has improved.
One of the weird things about nomading is that we tend to have some strange meals at the end of our stays in each place. One day, I made the kids a super healthy lunch which consisted of pineapple, Ramen, and popcorn. After I had plated it up, I realized that everything was yellow. The kids were absolutely enchanted by this and have decided that color-themed meals need to be a thing.
Another day, we were eating lunch, and Clara pushed a piece of cereal over to me. It rather resembled a little envelope with the tiny note that she had tucked inside of it. We all started passing little notes around to each other with that little Oatmeal square. I love little things like that.
Especially because, usually, the children show love by tackling/sitting on those they love.
One morning, the stress of packing was really getting to me, and so Clara and Jonathan insisted that I come on a short run with them. While I was upstairs changing into running clothes, Jonathan told Jonas and Logan that we were going. Logan replied: “That would be good. She needs to get out of her head.”
Don’t you just hate it when people give you your own advice!? (But also, apparently they ARE listening!)
Also. I didn’t die on the run!! Go me.
And packing didn’t kill me either. I’m a survivor.
This might be my favorite post, I love everything about it.
haha!! You are too kind, Sarah!
