Maine, Week 3 (June 27- July 3)

Logan’s Birthday Celebration

For Logan’s 6th birthday, we made him breakfast in bed. He has been really into toasted bagels and nectarines lately (though not necessarily together) so that’s what we made. He ate in bed and then opened his presents. He got a Kindle, a kindle case, and some headphones (the kids’ kindles can connect to bluetooth headphones and you can listen to Audible books from your kindle).

For dinner, we did orange chicken. That is his very most favoritestest meal of all time. Afterwards, we did brownies and ice cream. He says it was a good 6th birthday.

I cannot believe this little guy is already 6. It’s making me crazy. Who authorized this?!

Ogunquit Beach with Friends

One of our favorite families from Seattle was in Boston, and so we met up at a beach between us. See that post Here

Damariscotta Lake (07/2-3/22)

We also got to go to Lake Damariscotta a couple times. The “lake beach” as Isaac calls it, is only a 10 minute drive from our house. I wish we’d discovered it sooner!

Other than those things, our week looked very much like the other weeks that we have been here. It’s definitely a much slower pace.

Your Weekly Bun bun update

Oreo (as the children have taken to calling him) has become such an important part of our experience in Maine. The kids have taken to calling him ‘Oreo’.

The big development this week on the bun is that he has accepted the twins. Honestly, I wasn’t sure it would ever happen, because they are so loud and….”clompy”…..? πŸ˜‚ (Clompy meaning they move very clumsily and loudly and cutely…)

He is a very patient bun bun.

Playing Outside

As always, we’ve spent time outside on the swing and the slack line.

Peaceful Times

After the twins are down for their nap, I have taken to sitting outside in one of the many rocking chairs and either reading or embroidering. It’s incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. I usually go out alone. But inevitably, I am joined by a someone or by several someones. I have really come to enjoy these afternoons.

Staying Active

Jonathan and Clara have continued to go running together in the mornings several days a week. And JustDance has continued to be a popular pastime. The twins and Logan especially love doing it. Although, Isaac has just taken to laying down on the ground and watching the screen while everybody dances around him. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I was planning to fly out to Utah to see my brother Jack come home from his mission (It’s already been 2 years!) And to see my brand new nephew Gabe. And we were trying to prepare the twins for the fact that I would be gone for 5 days. And Isaac just about lost his mind.

In the pictures above, he is literally screaming at Jonathan: “I don’t want Mom to go to the airport! I want YOU to go to the airport”. He’s DEF-initely a Mama’s boy. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
