So, I have covid…
This week turned out very differently from how we had planned. My youngest brother, Jack, finished his mission this week and was returning home after two years. And I was planning on flying out to see him. And the timing worked out so that I could see my new nephew, Gabe as well. He was born on the 3rd of July. So yeah, a day old.
But I woke up on the morning that I was supposed to fly out, and I wasn’t feeling great. I had started feeling a little under the weather the night before, but I put it down to just being tired and hoped I would feel better in the morning.
Instead, I felt worse. I did a couple of covid tests (we happened to have a couple) and they were both positive. So that put a kibosh on my trip…. πππ
I’m grateful that we figured out that I had covid before I left. It would have been pretty crappy if I had realized I had it when I was already in Utah (with a brand new baby! And recovering mom!).
Fortunately, my symptoms this time around were pretty minor. I was pretty tired for a couple of days. And I had some minor body aches. But that was it.
All the same, I wore a mask for most of the week when I was around the rest of the fam. Hopefully this buck will stop here.
Independence Day
So, before we knew I had covid, the rest of the fam were going to take me in to catch my bus (which would take me to the Boston Airport) and then they were going to run to the grocery store after dropping me off. Obviously that didn’t happen.
Instead Jonathan and the kids all drove into town to get supplies for our Independence Day celebration, while I stayed home and slept. And while they were out they got all the details about where and when fireworks would be happening.
After dinner, we drove into town to see the fireworks.
We arrived in Augusta about 15 minutes before the fireworks were scheduled to start. And we got AMAZING parking. We got super lucky (A little tender mercy there!). (After the fireworks were done, we realized just how lucky we were, because it was easy to leave also!)
After the fireworks show we headed home. We got home at about 10:30. And since we were already all up and it was pitch dark, we took the opportunity to do a little bit of stargazing with the kids (just for a couple minutes) cause we’d been meaning to do it anyway.
I have to say, spending Independence day with my family was a LOT better than spending it in a buses and airports.
The Bun Bun
The rest of the week was pretty standard. Except for I slept more than usual. And so there aren’t as many pictures.
Of course, there was a lot more bun bun loving. He really has been one of the best parts of this house. We are all pretty in love with the little fluff ball. (Seriously, a lot fewer pictures. I only have TWO of the bun bun loving.
General Shenanigans
It was a pretty low key week. Jonathan and the kids did a LOT of Just Dance (Evie is usually the instigator, though Logan has also asked to do it a few times). He took the kids to Red Robin one night for dinner.
Lake Damariscotta
On Saturday, we went to Lake Damariscotta. We had enjoyed it so much the previous week that we decided to go back.
It was much quieter this time, and around dinner time the beach REALLY emptied out. We nearly had the place to ourselves save for two other parties, both of which were pretty far from us. It was so peaceful and lovely.
So yeah, all in all a different week than we expected. But it was a good one. And no one else got Covid!!! HOORAY!
