Maine Week 5 (July 11-16)

Damariscotta Lake (x2!)

We were able to make it to Damariscotta lake two more times this week before we left. And of course, we had to hit J Scoop one more time before we left.

It really is such a fantastic beach for families. The water is warm, and it gets deeper very gradually, which is perfect for the little ones.

The lake has definitely been one of our favorite parts of Maine.

The other best part of Maine

As we approached the end of our stay, there was much sadness regarding the separation from the bun bun, especially from our eldest child. She loves that little fella so much.

Mail Woes

Story time. We have a mail service in Seattle that receives all of our mail. They sort and scan it for us. Most of the time, the scan is enough and so they destroy the physical copies. But with certain things you really do need the physical item, for example car registration and the license plate stickers.

Because I am paranoid, I renewed our registration way back in April, when we were in Nashville. We were good until July. But again, I am paranoid. And it turns out that it was a very good thing that I started the process so early because it was quite the rigamarole to actually get the stickers.

  1. The DMV sent our stickers to our old address. πŸ˜‘ (Even though I had corrected our address). The Post office forwarded it to our Mail service. πŸ‘πŸ»
  2. Our Mail service received it and I had them hold it for the time being. πŸ‘πŸ»
  3. When we were about to leave Charlotte, I had the mail service package up all our items and send them to my friend Angela who lives in D.C. πŸ‘πŸ»
  4. It took a while, but eventually, the package arrived at Angela’s. πŸ‘πŸ» The registration/sticker (and a couple other items) were not there. And they had sent us some items we hadn’t requested. 😱😱😱
  5. We call the mail service. They frantically hunt for the items. Turns out they had destroyed most of the other items we actually wanted them to send. 😱 Fortunately, they had NOT destroyed the car registration/stickers. Phew! πŸ˜…
  6. By this point, it is too late to have them re-sent to Angela’s because we were going to be leaving D.C. soon. Instead, I had them sent to my SIL in Utah, because I was going to be going out there in July and I could just pick them up. They arrived safely in Utah. πŸ‘πŸ» (Tamara verified this)
  7. I get Covid. So I am not going to Utah after all…😭😱😭😭😭😱😭
  8. I beg my mom to FedEx the registration/stickers to me. She does. 😍😍😍😍
  9. The shipping is delayed….. 😫😫 Getting a little worried… 😫😫 We’re about to leave Maine…. 😫😫But, Hallelujah! The package finally arrives. I opened the package, did a happy dance and immediately put the sticker on the car. 🀩πŸ₯³πŸ€©πŸ₯³πŸ€©πŸ₯³πŸ€©πŸ₯³πŸ€©πŸ₯³πŸ€©πŸ₯³πŸ€©πŸ₯³

So yeah, my paranoia saved us this time. That is the story I am very grateful that there was a happy ending. And that I only have one ulcer. πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅

General Goings On…

Moving Week

The few days before we pack up and leave an Airbnb is always weird because we are trying to use up the food we have. And we don’t buy any more. So, we have had some strange meals during moving week. And this time, we pretty much just ran out of food. So, we went to Red Robin one night. And we had to be seated in two different parties because they only had two cooks in the kitchen. And so they couldn’t accomodate larger parties. We didn’t even sit anywhere near each other. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So, an unusual experience, but it was fine. And the food was good. So yeah, we were good.
