On Boxing day, we packed up all our belongings, loaded up, and left Provo. Our first foray into unknown territory! It was a fairly snowy drive to get there. But we arrived in Moab in one piece at about 7:30.
We pulled into the parking lot of our hotel and saw people swimming. In an outdoor pool. It was freaking cold outside. During check-in, Jonathan learned that the water was about 90 degrees. So, we decided, in the name of nomading and being adventurous, that swimming should happen.
We ran into our room, Jonathan grabbed some quick snacks for the kids, and I dug out all of our swimsuits out of the abyss of our car and off we went.
We had a great time. The three older kids spent most of their time going down the slide. Evie climbed in and out of the small pool about a hundred times. And Isaac and I decided to hang out in the smaller (and warmer) pool and we had a great time. Until it was time to get out. Running across the parking lot with skimpy towels was not the most pleasant experience! Fortunately, our room was delightfully warm. And we chucked the four youngest kids in the bath. So, we weren’t in danger of frostbite for too long.
Speaking of our room. It was awesome. It had two queen bunkbeds. Which was amazing. It meant that we could all stay in the same room. The next morning, we went to breakfast, which was delightful. And the lobby bathroom was rather notable:
After a nice chat with a family from Phoenix, we loaded up all our people and all our belongings and we were off to Arches National Park!
