Author’s note: I exercised serious restraint with the pictures in this post. I really struggled to narrow them down. #thankgoodnessforcollages. Ok. Onto your regularly scheduled programming.
I don’t quite know how to classify this place. Is it a park? botanical garden? mini zoo? wedding venue? picnic area? Pretty sure it is all of those things. All I know is that it was a lovely spot right in the middle of the city. (I love the skyscrapers and buildings in the distance)
It was the perfect destination after a few pretty intense outings in a row (Divisoria and Art in Island/Palengke). It was beautiful and peaceful and calming. We loved it. And we have already promised the kids that we will come back.
We came on a rather overcast sort of day. Which was actually nice, because then the sun wasn’t beating down the whole time.
One of the best parts is that it was just so nice to just let the kids roam. Pretty much any time we leave our apartment, we have to be vigilant about keeping them right next to us the entire time.
So letting them just wander was rather refreshing. For everyone. The two older kids spent a lot of time throwing rocks into the lagoon. They also gathered anything and everything that caught their fancy: sticks and seeds and leaves (Can you believe the seed pod in the upper left!? It is like a little piece of art. For real)
Jonathan, Logan, and I just sat back, relaxed, and watched them romp around. All in a beautiful, quiet place. The only thing that could have made it more perfect is if it hadn’t been quite so humid 🙂
One other perk of this place is that it opens at 8 am. That doesn’t sound like a big thing. But, a lot of places (including most grocery stores, unfortunately) don’t open until 10 am. So, your morning is half gone before you can even start thinking about errands or adventures. And by then the traffic has really picked up. It’s generally still pretty calm at 8.
The fact that we could come early, stay for a while and then head home is delightful. Also. Can I just say, I love the plants here in the Pilipinas. They are just so novel and interesting!! I love it!
We only got to explore a fraction of this place. We only saw one of the bird cages. We didn’t get to the butterfly house, or any of the other wildlife stuff. #itsok #wewillbeback
We pretty much spent all of our time around the beautiful lagoon area. Which was just fine by me.
