Dave and Busters
When we aborted our attempt at going to Dave and Busters the other day, to help mollify them, we promised the kids we would go back another day. And so, after work one day, Jonathan took Clara, Jonas, and Logan while the twins and I stayed home. It was a good arrangement for everyone involved.
The Dave and Busters crew basically had the place to themselves. First they ate. And then they went and hit the arcade.
After playing for a while, they went and redeemed their tickets for prizes.
All three of them ended up getting slinkies. And as we all know, slinkies are rather turmoil-inducing.
Let’s just say that I spent a good part of the next day untangling them. I finally had to put my foot down and say that I wouldn’t spend the ENTIRE day untangling slinkies.
Eventually, Clara and Jonas’s slinkies were tangled beyond repair (and beyond my capacity/desire to untangle). And so they were retired. Surprisingly, Logan’s slinky is actually still kicking.
Jonathan goes to Indianapolis
After arriving in Nashville, we never set up the piano.
And, as we were approaching the time of packing up and leaving Nashville, my anxiety was increasing. It is a ridiculous amount of work to pack everything up and to pack the car so that everything actually fits, and so that it doesn’t become too uncomfortable to travel in.
Every time we’ve moved from one place to the next, we have jettisoned stuff. But it was reaching the point where to get rid of anything else, we would have to ditch stuff we actually wanted to hold on to. Specifically, the piano….
We discussed many possibilities: selling, storage units, shipping, building a large bonfire, etc.
In the end, we decided to get a tiny storage unit.
We knew that it would be unlikely that we would come back in the vicinity of Nashville after our nomading is complete. And so, we looked a little further north. Jonathan has expressed interest in the past of visiting Indianapolis at some point. And so, we figured that was as good of a place as any.
And honestly, we felt really good about Indianapolis.
And so, after Jonathan finished work and ate dinner with the fam, he drove 4 hours north to Indianapolis, arriving around midnight.
And he checked into his hotel.
It turned out that the place was quite literally a roach motel; like, he put his backpack down, and a roach scurried away. Everything about the place was scuzzy and unsanitary. So he grabbed his stuff and went somewhere else.
The next morning, he got some work done and then, went and dropped off all our stuff in the storage unit (I had gathered up a bunch of other stuff to send to as well).
And then he made his way back to Nashville.
Back at the homestead
Meanwhile, the kids and I hung out at home. We did homeschool and chores. And played with toys.
Isaac in particular, was very intent on his tasks:
And we also spent some time outside.
Well, that’s basically all for this very random post.
Until next time!!
