Rest days & Randomness (05/31/22-06/01/22)

We’ve been hitting it pretty hard for the last couple of weeks. So, we decided to take a couple of rest days. And it just so happened that our rest days coincided with a heat wave, which we thought was excellent timing, the house has excellent air con. Although, in spite of the heat wave, Clara and Jonathan still went running in the morning. You could say that they got pretty warm in the process.

I also sheared our little sheep. We went short and utilitarian with their hair this time around because the they have been getting so overheated lately. And they have such thick hair. Basically, they’re like little polar bears. So, hopefully this will allow them to stay a little cooler.

Also, the twins were very excited to use their “Bubbies.” Thus far, they haven’t gotten much use out of this particular birthday present. The thing that I loved the most was that it was actually Logan’s suggestion. We were hanging out one morning after breakfast, and he asked the twins if they wanted to go blow bubbles in the backyard. And so off they went. (Somehow I don’t have a picture of him blowing bubbles with them… But I do have Jonas, who was also very sweet with our two little tyrants.)

There was lots of general running amok. I honestly don’t know if it’s harder to take them out of the house or to deal with their rambunctiousness in a space that isn’t terribly conducive to rambunctiousness.

Why do kids have so much more energy than their parents? It’s a cruel irony.

Jonas and Logan in particular just seem to have this need to wrestle and poke at each other and everyone else lately.

Fortunately (for my sanity), there were also some quieter moments as well: reading, yoga, naps, and snuggles.

I’ve been meaning to mention Jonathan’s work set up. Because it’s a little crazy. And this seemed like as good a time as any. The little desk you see below belongs to us. It folds up and takes up very little room in the car. And we have been so happy to have it.

However, we’ve been at the mercy of the Airbnbs for his chair. And some chairs have been better than others. In this house, all the kitchen chairs are counter height barstools. Literally the only chair that is the right height, is a shower chair. 😂😂😂

It turns out that shower chairs make really terrible desk chairs. So, he has been working in bed a lot lately. #sainthood

I think we’re ready to tackle DC again.
