Sabbaday Falls – 07.19.22

07/17/22 – Church and Rest

One of the interesting things about staying in Airbnbs is that you really have no clue what you’re going to end up with. This particular place actually has a lot of games, books, puzzles, and toys. So after church, we spent a lot of time on Sunday enjoying these amenities, especially the puzzles.

After naps, we went and checked out the communal recreation room, which has a ping pong table, pool table, and air hockey. We didn’t stay too long because you have to pay for each game you play, (except for ping pong, but you do have to buy a ball). And more significantly, there was no A/C. It was about 90 degrees in there and was only 80 outside. We played ping pong for a couple of minutes and then left.

Instead we busted out our frisbees and other lawn toys and had a great time playing out on the lawn. There is an enormous greenspace right off our back porch and it’s perfect for all those kinds of things. And it has a beautiful view of the mountains as well.

07/18/22- Rainy Day Swimming

Today we finished getting settled and worked on getting back into our routine. I also drove 30 minutes to Wal Mart and got the oil changed and loaded us up on groceries. Fortunately, groceries are not as expensive here as they were in Maine.

All day it was rather rainy.

Fortunately, there is an indoor pool and hot tub, so we definitely went and checked that action out! It’s a pretty good facility, but we all decided that we prefer the outdoor pool. In part, because you aren’t inhaling chlorine the whole time.

SABBADAY FALLS- 07/19/22

One of the main reasons I chose this particular Airbnb is because we wanted a place that was close to the mountains and therefore, convenient to lots of hiking. And so, today we went on our first New Hampshire hike to Sabbaday Falls. Once Jonathan finished with work for the day, we took off.

It was a pretty short and easy trail. But it had a major payoff with the view of the Falls.

On the trail to the falls, you walk along the little river that is fed by the falls. And it’s just incredibly picturesque. The kids had a great time crawling around on the rocks and throwing stones into the river.

Eventually we managed to pull the kids away from the river and we started making our way towards the falls.

First you come to a pool that has formed at the bottom of the falls. It is surprisingly deep. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to swim. But it is still incredibly beautiful.

We then got back on the main part of the trail and made our way up towards the top of the falls. And wow. It was SO BEAUTIFUL! This world is magnificent!

We made our way up to the top of the falls, and we went and climbed around on the rocks more up at the top of the falls. Isaac and I hung back and threw more stones in the water while everyone else climbed across the rocks to check things out on the other side of the river.

We could’ve stayed here all day. But, it was getting close to dinner time and yammy melt down time

Eventually we got everyone loaded into the car and we started the drive back to the Airbnb. We came across a scenic overlook, and I insisted that we stop really quick to check it out. And it was just lovely. Definitely scenic.

We came home, made dinner, and then, once again, we went swimming. And it was nice to go later in the evening because we didn’t even have to bother with swim shirts or sunscreen. Hallelujah!

It was a great day. New Hampshire is incredibly beautiful.
