For today’s adventure, we decided to jump into some of the more traditional tourist-y type things, specifically, the CN tower. And today, drove. And man, the city is so GORGEOUS right now with all of the leaves changing color.
Once we got downtown, Jonathan dropped the kids and I off, and he went to find parking for us. When he caught up to us, we made our way over to the entrance.
On the way to the elevator, there are a bunch of displays about the CN tower: how it was constructed, what materials were used, how long it took, famous mentions, etc. One of the most interesting facts about it is that it is struck by lightning an average of 75 times per year. Cray.
Eventually we got to the elevator and we rode up. It was a 58-second elevator ride. Our ears started popping. We got out of the elevator and wandered around, appreciating the panoramic views of the city.
Right now the glass floor is in the process of being replaced/repaired so we weren’t able to experience that. But the views were still amazing. Toronto is a beautiful city. There are so many trees.
There is a full blown restaurant on the upper observation level, but it was exorbitantly expensive for 7 people (4 of whom may or may not actually eat the food). So we grabbed a chocolate croissant from the little bar down on the main observation level and enjoyed the snacks we brought with us.
In total, we stayed up there for probably about an hour, enjoying the sights. It was beautiful (and definitely a little bit vertigo-inducing)
After we came back down, we went over to the Blue Jay’s store which was right next door. Cause Jonathan wanted a little more merch. He happened to find a t-shirt that exactly matches the hat he already had. So he totes bought it.
We went home for a bit of a quiet afternoon and then for dinner, we made our way to Korea town to get some proper Korean BBQ.
We went to the place that Jonathan remembered from his time as a missionary.
Also, Jonathan is a smart fella. He fed the pickier eaters before we left so that we wouldn’t have to worry about them complaining about the food the whole time. And he also charged up the iPad to keep the twins entertained and not crawling onto the hot bbq in the center of the table.
In the end, the food was delicious. And melting the twins’ brains (and the boys’ brains too) worked out REALLY well.
Clara, Jonathan, and I were able to enjoy our food without worrying about anyone burning themselves.
It was an awesome day.
