To Niagara Falls & Toronto (10.02.22)

We woke up, got to experience another awesome Bed House breakfast, and then shoved ourselves and all of our belongings into the car and hit the road.

We made a quick stop in Buffalo, NY for some nostalgia treats

When Logan was a wee 3 months old, he and I tagged along with Jonathan on a work trip. While we were there, we got to try Sponge Candy, which is a Buffalo thing.

We had been hoping to get some, but the place we stopped at had run out. We were a little disappointed. But not so disappointed about sponge candy that we would drive all over town on a day when we would already be doing plenty of driving. We decided to press on, cause we had a border to cross. And you never know how long that will take. (We waited in line for 2 hours on a trip from Seattle to Vancouver once upon a time.)

We were delighted to find that our wait at the border was less than 10 minutes. Hallelujah!! Once we made it across we continued on our way to Niagara Falls.

Upon arriving, Jonathan dropped us off in Queen Elizabeth Park (may she rest in peace) and he went to find parking.

Once he returned, we walked over to see beautiful Niagara Falls. The falls themselves are divided. We started over on the left, cause that part was closer to where we started.

When we came to the falls with baby Wogan, we came at night, which was awesome, cause they were all lit up! And so it was fun to see them during the day. The water is a beautiful turquoise color.

After we had taken the time to appreciate this part of the falls, we started walking toward the other part. There is a wide walkway that travels the length of the river on which the falls are located. There were quite a few people out and about today. Can’t say I blame them, the weather was gorgeous.

The falls on this side form a sort of horseshoe-ish shape. And, in my opinion, it’s even more beautiful than the first part of the falls that we visited. As we got closer, we could feel the mist falling from the sky.

On this side, you you can get really close to the falls, right where the water falls down. It’s pretty spectacular in person.

After we had enjoyed the falls, we made our way back to the car and got back on the road to Toronto.

Once we got within spitting distance from our Airbnb, we stopped at a grocery store. But not just any grocery store. We went to the Real Canadian Superstore. And it was a magical place. We bought more than we had intended.

When we started this journey back in Palmyra, our car was full. But after a run to the Real Canadian Superstore, we were bursting at the seams.

Fortunately, the Airbnb was only a 5 minute drive away. We got into the house and immediately ate dinner. Cause we had been subsisting on snacks since we left the bed house this morning.

We were all very happy to be in our new digs. And we are really excited to spend time in the place where Jonathan served his 2-year mission!
