THE FINGER
Clara’s finger is healing well. Unfortunately, because her nail couldn’t be saved, the bandages have gotten stuck to her nail bed a few times. Even with petroleum jelly. 🙁 So, that’s been a bit of a difficulty. But, the stitches are going to come out in a couple of days and then we’ll move on with life. Funny enough, the hardest part for her, (once the hospital ordeal was over) is that she isn’t allowed to swim for 10 days. Seriously. More tears have been shed about that than all the pain and gross antibiotics and everything else combined.
So, I bought her flowers while we were out picking up her prescriptions. I figured they would cheer her up. And I was right. She insisted on carrying them them for the entire walk home. We got even more stares and smiles than usual. (And with good reason, it was pretty adorable.)
Now, it’s a beautiful bouquet, but let’s be honest, this particular bouquet was chosen because of the sparkly pink butterfly #realtalk #shesagirl.
VISAS
So, we realized, just in the nick of time, that our initial 30-day tourist visas expire today… Though admittedly, we were kind of hoping that we would need to go on an emergency vacation to another country. 🙂 Unfortunately, the address for the Bureau of immigration was incorrect online. Apparently, the office moved about 3 months ago, but no one bothered to tell the internet… #philippines. Instead we ended up at the Bureau of Trade…. It seems a lot of people get hung up by this problem. As we were leaving, we ran into another American that was attempting to renew his visa. So, we all shared an Uber over to the correct office. Turns out, he lived in Stockton for a while! And he owns property there! What are the odds of that!?! It’s a small world I tell ya.
We arrived, got our paperwork all filled out, turned it all in, and just then all the workers took their lunch break. We literally watched them eat. It was almost comical. I guess government works pretty much the same way no matter where you go. This is how we managed to keep sane during that process:
It was actually nice despite the wait. We had a/c, no one cried. It was almost like a vacation. And now, we all have sweet visa stickers in our passports. And I’m inordinately excited about that. Our passports are getting all sorts of decorations. #thesmallthings
LASTLY
Ok, I have nothing real to add. Just, isn’t he cute? And Logan’s not so bad either. 🙂
Jonathan was the baby whisperer on Sunday. I actually got to hear the lesson in Relief Society. I would say that is pretty notable.
