The day had finally arrived for Sarah and Ezra to come visit! We were all looking forward to having them, but let’s be honest, Jonas was the most excited of all. Ezra was (and still is) his BFF in Seattle.
They were arriving about 10 am, and so while we waited, we worked on getting us a little more settled in. And then we made our way over to LOGAN airport. Our Logan was delighted by that: “I didn’t know that the airport was named after me!!!” He pointed out his name every time he saw it.
ππ I love that guy.
Eventually we found our friends!! Hooray!! They were kinda tired from getting up early and their travels so we decided that just a mini tour stop would be perfect. And then we’d go back to the house and rest.
A brief stop at Fenway park for pictures and souvenirs was on the list of things to do with Sarah & Ezra. So, off we went!
And in case you are clueless, like me, Fenway park=Boston Red Sox baseball.
The parking situation around Fenway just isn’t. But we got heckin’ lucky and managed to find a great spot It took me a couple of attempts and some strange noises. But I managed to parallel park in a rather small spot. I’ve still got it! Yes!!
And so, we started our own little walking tour around Fenway. They do actual tours. But it would have been $135 for me and my kids for a one hour tour!! That’s a little steep considering that I didn’t even know Fenway was the Red Sox Stadium… Fortunately, Sarah and Ezra were cool with just walking around the stadium too.
Fortunately, because of it’s location and the way that it was built, it was fun just to walk around Fenway. There are tons of little restaurants and shops tucked right in under all the seats.
After we’d wandered for a bit, we needed a bathroom break and we decided to get some lunch while we were at it. We found a little spot called Sal’s that sells pizza by the slice. The kids enjoyed sitting in the barstools.
After we finished our lunch, we continued our little walking tour around Fenway. And then we saw it: a little peekaboo view into the stadium itself. So, we naturally stopped and took some pictures, and we chatted with the workers for a second.
I’m pretty sure that they thought we were a daycare or something. Like seriously. One of them referred to Sarah and I as chaperones. πππ I guess I could see it.
We went to a souvenir shop that we found as we were walking (it was MASSIVE!) And it was eventful.
First: I have been collecting patches, and stickers on our nomad year. And so of course, I grabbed a couple of patches and a couple of stickers. And each of the kids grabbed keychains.
And our bill was $100!!! Which was way more than I was expecting. But I put in my credit card before it really registered in my brain that that was a lot. And so, then when I realized I tried to stop the transaction; but it was too late. And so yeah, that’s the story of how I ended up buying two patches that were each $20 (most of the time patches are closer to $5 apiece!). Moral of the story: Look at the price tag.
Second: Logan found a tie dye shirt that he really wanted. (Our little clothes horse would buy a t-shirt at every single place we went if he had enough allowance.) It was $35 (!?!) (after the patch story are you surprised!?!) and he definitely didn’t have enough allowance for that. And so I heartlessly told him no.
And it just about broke his little heart. He went and hid in some clothes and cried. And Sarah, who is a softie and who has a serious soft spot for that little guy bought it for him. Because she is the nicest.
After our adventure at the souvenir shop, we headed back to the house. The kids played and I got started on dinner and made strange faces while I cooked.
Side note: I’m going to be in more pictures than usual while Sarah is here….I’m not sure that’s a good thing…
Ezra was cackling while reading this on the Subway. Lol! What a great time. We miss you all so much already!!!
We miss you guys too! We’re so glad you visited! Thanks for putting up with our chaos!
